GOVERNOR'S CORNER :
HEALTH
Good health is a key to economic
growth and sustainable development.
The Provincial government seeks to attain a reduced incidence of communicable and vector-borne diseases, of infant and maternal casualties, and incidence of malnutrition cases in the province.
In his first year in office, Gov. Baham reported improved access to medical, health services and facilities. The Northern Palawan Provincial Hospital in Taytay and the Southern Palawan Provincial Hospital are fully operational and providing health and medical services to Palaweños within the catchment areas of the two hospital facilities.
An updated Provincial Health
Plan was formulated to rediscover innovative
ways to come up with programs designed for
the efficient delivery of health services.
In partnership with Philhealth, Gov. Baham approved the budgetary allocation of 20 million pesos for the expanded coverage of the province wide health care system to 40,000 beneficiaries.
In order to reach far-flung areas in the province, Gov. Baham implemented the motorcycle revolving fund under the management of the Provincial Health Office. This is a minimal interest vehicle loan assistance program for permanent health workers for the purpose of providing beneficiaries with motorcycles to be used in their visitations and consultations in the remotest barangays.
To provide Palaweños affordable medicines that are available right in their own communities, the Provincial government has put in place the Botika ng Barangay program. So far, the Provincial Health Office under the present administration has established 88 Botika ng Barangay in coordination with the local barangay officials.
