GOVERNOR'S CORNER :
TOURISM
Palawan is a paradise like no
other, making it easy for the province to
be acknowledged and listed in the National
Geographic Magazine’s top 20 destinations
in the world.
In partnership with the private sector,
the Provincial government pursues
eco-tourism programs.
To better cater to the needs of the
tourists, the Provincial government
initiated tour guiding and other seminars
to improve the delivery of tourism
services and create a culture of tourism
that would encourage travelers to visit
and revisit Palawan.
Our yearly Baragatan Festival has become a
colorful, exciting and lively showcase of
Palawan and a major tourism marketing and
promotional event for the province.
The Provincial government plans to improve
airport development and road network in
key tourism areas in the province with El
Nido, Taytay and San Vicente as the next
priority areas for infrastructure
development. With the accessibility
of Palawan to the rest of the country and
the world, tourist arrivals will continue
to increase.
The 52% increase in tourist arrivals for
2010 is a very solid performance. Gov.
Baham has called for an intensification of
the tourism marketing and promotions to at
least attain the target of 15% yearly
increase in tourist arrivals and to
eventually hit the one million mark in
tourist arrivals by 2015.
